Diego studied cooking at a prestigious school in Lima and Anilú is a food engineer. They met working in a high-end restaurant in Lima (while Anilú was the manager she interviewed and hired Diego as a cook).
For a few years, they lived the Coastal lifestyle together, surfing and enjoying the beach. Then they made the bold decision to move their life to the mountains of Cusco. This turns out to be a blessing for tourists who wish to do a cooking class and learn a little of the famous Peruvian/Criollo gastronomy!

A cooking workshop at Diego and Anilú’s restaurant in Urubamba is a wonderful pitstop as you pass through the Sacred Valley on your Cusco travels. The workshop starts with a visit to the Urubamba food market. This in itself is a great experience where you get to see the local produce on offer including many exotic fruits and vegetables.
Once back at Pakakuna Restaurant we then get the cooking class underway. There is a menu of classic Peruvian dishes to choose from including Lomo Saltado, Trout Ceviche, Causa Limeña, Broad Bean Stir-fry, Aji de Gallina and Aji de Gallina. Other dishes are possible also if you inform us with anticipation. You will also learn to make the famous Pisco sour. After the workshop, you get to eat and drink everything you make!
The workshop can be a demonstration or participatory depending on your preference. Lunch includes entre, main course and herbal teas from our gardens that you get to pick yourself! You can choose to have lunch or dinner. The lunch workshop starts at 10 am and the dinner workshop starts at 4 pm. If you do not wish to do the Urubamba Market tour then the workshop will start 1.5 hrs later.
