The Piuray Outdoor Centre is located on the banks of the stunning Lake Piuray just a 45 min drive from Cusco on route to the Sacred Valley. This outdoor activity project was founded on a vision of socially and environmentally conscious tourism. The result is a spectacular setting, the best quality equipment and guides, and the chance to experience Andean culture from a unique vantage point – the water!
A bit of SUP Boarding or Canoeing on Lake Piuray is a wonderful pitstop on the way towards the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu. We can help you connect this tour with our many other culturally immersive travel experiences in the area.

The tour would typically begin by leaving Cusco in the morning and travelling to Lake Piuray with the transportation we organise for you. Generally, the trip is about 40 minutes. On arrival, you get an introduction to the area and a briefing on the water activity that you are about to embark on. There are all kinds of water vessels for the choosing and you are free to pick the one that suits you best.
All of the equipment is of the highest quality, and well looked after, to ensure you have the perfect experience on the water! Every detail has been considered, all the way to the organic sun protector we provide to ensure the least possible environmental impact to the lake. Next, we take to the water! It is a truly magical experience and a unique way to soak in the stunning Andes mountain ranges.
The banks of Lake Piuray are dotted with communities who live with the land as is the tradition. These communities still farm organically on ancient terraces built into the hillsides. To observe them go about their daily farming duties from the water is very special. The activity takes between 1 – 1.5 hours and afterwards we have the choice to have lunch here by the banks of the river or move on towards our next destination.

WHAT ESSENTIALS SHOULD I BRING?
It is recommended to bring sunglasses, sunscreen with high SPF, moisturizer, and hat, comfortable clothes for the day, cotton shirts, hand sanitizer and camera!
When you go over 3500 meters you always need to bring a fleece jacket and a thick winter jacket just in case. The wind is very cool at that altitude!
